Personal History

Tatjana Qadada is the General Manager and owner of Lotar Enterprises. Her history is quite diverse. Born in Germany, she emigrated to the United States with her family in 1964, and spent her early years on the East Coast. She attended the Naval Academy and after nearly four years left the Navy behind with an Honorable Discharge. Finishing her Bachelor of Science in Regional Analysis from the University of Wisconsin with minors in Math and Engineering, a technical career was imminent.

During her scholarship and internship from the West German Government through the Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft, she worked at Drägerwerk AG in Lübeck, Germany, where she then met her husband. Afterwards, her career in the plastics industry began in 1987.

Starting as an Entrepreneur

Stuttgart, most known for its automotive industry – both Porsche and Mercedes-Benz have their headquarters in the region – is where Tatjana began a working relationship with Arcotec. This company is a corona treatment manufacturer.  This company presented her with the German skills of innovation, precision and quality.

As a sales person, she sold corona treatment generators to customers in the U.S. in turnkey operations and smaller print shops. After her children were born, she decided to no longer continue traveling. This lead to selling the sub-product of arcotec GmbH and later on, their sister company, arcotest GmbH. The mail-order based business became successful in selling the well know Quicktest Pen 38®S and formamide inks that were available at the time.

After several years of selling the BLUE formamide inks, they were then filled into marker-type pens. Subsequently, customers found this method easier to test their substrates. Then came the innovation of the PINK inks and pens. These were non-poisonous inks, taking into consideration women in the workplace, especially those of child-bearing years. This was an important innovation, because Tatjana had small children herself. She knew of the potential dangers that the formamide solution could cause in on-going higher doses.

Products

Through the more than 30 years that Lotar LLC has been in business, we have developed a niche market, that continues to grow. Precision and quality is demanded by our customers. We carry many types of inks and pens ranging in values from 18.4 to 105 dyne/cm. These products help many customers with surface tension testing needs whether it be on substrates, metal cleanliness, or textiles.
